Every platform ranked here ships an AI analyst. Most of them include it in the platform you already pay for, and a handful put it behind a separate purchase, which is where the cost lands. Tableau Agent needs a Tableau+ subscription. QuickSight adds a $250/month infrastructure fee once Q&A is on, and Hex gates its agent at $36/Editor/month. Deepnote's free plan allows five Agent calls a month. Google's documentation places Looker's Conversational Analytics outside the FedRAMP High and FedRAMP Medium authorization boundary.

So where the AI is a separate line item, it is a second purchase on top of the stack you already run. On this list that is the minority case, not the rule, which makes it worth checking early rather than assuming either way.

But the honest answer to "which one" is usually "the one your data already sits next to." Google Looker if you run BigQuery. Amazon QuickSight if you run Redshift and S3. Sigma Computing or Snowflake's own Cortex AI if you want compute to stay in the warehouse. And if the priority is keeping the bill small, Metabase. That one question eliminates most of this list before you read a word about features.

Microsoft Power BI takes the top spot on the strength of reach. Copilot rides Microsoft Fabric, so it fits best if your company is already invested in the Microsoft stack, and over 100 native connectors mean your data is probably already reachable. Pro carries a published price you can walk into a budget meeting: $14.00 user/month, paid yearly. Ask where Copilot sits against that line before you build the budget.

How much of this can you price before a sales call?

That plan only works if the vendor will name a number. How many of these publish one? Twelve of the twenty-two. The other ten show no entry price at all.

Nine of those publish nothing you can price: Sigma, Looker, Tellius, Sisense, Pyramid Analytics, DataRobot and Domo are quote-only, while Snowflake and Databricks describe consumption models without putting a rate beside them. The tenth, Julius AI, sells on credits, with no public rate sitting beside them. Whatever the reason a number is missing, it is your first triage signal.

If a vendor won't price a seat on a public page, your finance team won't get a forecast out of the first call either. The table below is the spine of this guide. Read the fourth column first, because that is where your surprises live.

22. Julius AI	-	Credit-based	Natural-language dataset analysis, visualization and predictive modeling	-

Rule of thumb: the seat price is about half your conversation. The other half is who counts as a user. Then what the AI layer meters, and what you pay for storage your vendor holds on your behalf.

What everyone who only views a dashboard costs

The number you will have to defend is not the analyst seat. It's what the other three hundred people cost when all they do is open a report. On this list, viewer cost takes four shapes.

Per-viewer license. Power BI licenses anyone who opens a report. Tableau Viewer is $15/user/month, QuickSight Reader is $3/user/month, and ThoughtSpot Essentials starts at $25/user/month.

Then flat pricing, which stops counting heads. Metabase open source carries unlimited users. Metabase Starter is $90/month for 5 users with additional users at $6/month, and Qlik Standard is $825/month for unlimited users.

Consumption drops the seat altogether. Snowflake, Databricks and Domo bill credits or compute, so one more person reading a dashboard reaches your bill as query volume rather than as a license.

And event-based, where headcount barely enters the conversation. Amplitude prices on events, free to 2M a month.

The shape decides your total. The sticker price does not.

Ranks 1 to 3: the three defaults

That's the money question. The other one is fit, and these three are where most shortlists start and where most of them end. What separates them isn't the feature list. It's which stack you already pay for.

1. Microsoft Power BI, the safe standard if your company already lives in Microsoft 365

3,443 reviews across two platforms: 4.5/5 from 1,555 reviewers on G2, and 4.6/5 from 1,888 on Capterra. That is one of the deepest review bases here, so you're reading real users rather than a press release. It points the same way as Microsoft's own claim of Leader placement in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms.

Power BI takes best for enterprise and best integrations here, and the second one explains the first. Your team gets well over 100 named connectors, listed across files, databases, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, Azure and third-party services. Your SQL Server, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Salesforce, SAP HANA and Dataverse sources land in one modeling canvas.

Then it shows up where your people already work: Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint. Microsoft publishes customer results too. Lumen eliminated almost 10,000 manual hours, and Heineken gained 3.1 million hours in productivity.

Where the bill grows

Who needs a license? Anyone who opens the report. Reviewers say the Free, Pro, Premium Per User, Premium Capacity and Embedded structure is genuinely confusing to tell apart, and you'll feel that in your first quote.

Pro is $14.00 user/month, with a 100 GB model size and 48 daily refreshes. Premium Per User is $24.00 user/month and lifts maximum storage to 100 TB. Fabric Capacity comes as reservation or pay-as-you-go, where reservation offers 40.5% savings against pay-as-you-go. Do your seat math at real headcount, not author headcount.

The free tier is useful for an unusual reason. The free account lets you build interactive reports with no credit card, so you get a real evaluation environment instead of a demo. Sharing is what triggers the upgrade, and that limit is real: you cannot share a report at all until someone buys Pro or Premium.

The friction arrives later, in DAX. Capterra scores ease of use at 4.1/5, against 4.5 for features and 4.4 for value. Reviewers call visual customization restrictive, and report performance strained on very large datasets. Budget training time as carefully as seats. At least the seat price is printed.

2. Snowflake, the warehouse that grew its own analyst

Snowflake's price isn't. What it does put on the record is a set of numbers your CFO can at least read in full. Its FY2026 earnings release puts revenue at $4.68B, Q4 at $1.28B, up 30% year over year, and net revenue retention at 125%. The same release reports remaining performance obligations of $9.77B and more than 13,900 customers, 733 of them above $1M in trailing-12-month product revenue.

Independent sentiment points the same way: 764 G2 reviews at 4.6/5. Your security review will notice the compliance list, which covers SOC 2 Type II, SOC 1 Type II, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP Moderate and High, then DoD IL4/IL5, PCI-DSS, HITRUST, TISAX and ITAR.

The AI is native rather than bolted on, which shortens your integration work. Cortex Analyst turns your natural-language question into SQL. Cortex Search gives you managed RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) over unstructured data, and Cortex AI hands you serverless access to Anthropic Claude, Meta Llama and Mistral Large 2 without standing up separate infrastructure.

The ecosystem is wide as well: 750+ data providers on the Marketplace, plus named integrations including Dataiku, dbt Labs, Qlik, Sigma, Informatica, Matillion, Hightouch and Posit.

The cost you cannot forecast yet

The pricing page names four editions: Standard, Enterprise, Business Critical, and Virtual Private Snowflake. It attaches no credit or dollar figure to any of them. Plan on the calculator or a sales conversation.

Reviewers are blunt about what happens next. Your costs turn unpredictable with frequent queries, oversized warehouses and cross-region data movement. And the pricing model carries a learning curve of its own, on top of the platform's. There's no permanent free tier here, only a trial.

3. Tableau, the visualization standard with its AI behind a second subscription

Native AI like Snowflake's is the rule on this list. Tableau is one of the exceptions. Is Tableau Agent in the $75 Creator seat? No. It needs AI in Tableau enabled plus a Tableau+ subscription on Tableau Cloud, or Tableau Server v2025.3 and later. Get that line item onto your quote before you model per-seat cost.

What the agent does is at least specific. You get 16 or more chart types generated from natural language, running through Salesforce's Einstein Trust Layer, which Salesforce says retains neither your data nor your conversations in the underlying model. Its output quality isn't something you can look up, so test that yourself.

Underneath the AI question sits one of the deepest single-site review bases on this list: roughly 3,790 G2 reviews at 4.4/5, including 634 all-time mentions of ease of use and 275 mentions of a steep learning curve. Those two numbers together are the most useful thing in Tableau's file.

Reviewers describe the drag-and-drop layer as intuitive and easy to pick up for basic dashboarding and visualization. LOD (level of detail) expressions and calculated fields are where your analysts will stall.

Longevity is not in question, which matters if you're signing a three-year term. Tableau has operated since 2003, went public in 2013, and has sat inside Salesforce since a $15.7 billion all-stock acquisition closed in August 2019.

Your compliance file is thorough here: annual SOC 2, SOC 3 and ISAE 3402 audits, plus ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, HIPAA and TISAX. Connectivity covers Salesforce, Snowflake, SAP HANA, ServiceNow, Splunk, Starburst and Google Sheets, with ODBC 3.0 and JDBC 4.0 behind them.

Where the bill grows

Pricing is honest and steep. Viewer is $15/user/month. Explorer is $42. Creator, the only license that builds new workbooks and data sources, is $75/user/month on Tableau Cloud billed annually, and there's no permanent free tier.

Ranks 4 and 5: notebooks with an agent attached

Those three sell to a whole company. The next two serve a different buyer. If your analysts write Python and SQL, and your real problem is collaboration, keep reading. If your users are business managers who want a dashboard, skip to rank 6.

4. Deepnote, the collaborative notebook with the widest connector list in its class

Deepnote's free plan allows five Agent calls a month. Five. You'll spend those in one afternoon, which tells you what that tier is for: a look, not an evaluation. The rest of it is 5 projects, 3 editors and 10 AI code completions a month.

Paid, it's a genuinely broad workspace. Deepnote puts Python and SQL notebooks, GPU-enabled compute, scheduled workflows, native dashboards and Git-based version control in one place for your team, and it exports to Streamlit.

You get 60 or more native connectors: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, Postgres, MongoDB, S3, GCS, Azure Blob, Slack, Notion, dbt and Spark among them. Deepnote AI and a sidebar Agent write and edit your code, SQL and charts in context.

The company states SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance, and says the platform is now open source under Apache 2.0. It cites 500,000+ data professionals and use at 96 of the top 100 universities, and it acquired Hyperquery.

The review base is 387 G2 reviews at 4.5/5. The granular pros-and-cons commentary behind that aggregate is thin, so lean on the rating more than on the anecdotes when you weigh it.

Team runs $39/month per editor billed yearly and bundles $39 in AI credits, $280 in CPU credits and $50 in GPU credits. Transparent, and harder to forecast than a flat seat. Enterprise unlocks unlimited AI, SSO with directory sync, single-tenancy and bring-your-own-LLM.

One procurement note before you shortlist it. Your vendor-stability evidence is thinner here than at the top of this list, so treat reference calls as load-bearing rather than as a formality.

5. Hex, notebooks plus a conversational layer your business users can touch

Hex sits in the same lane and competes on governance ambition, which matters more than the demo suggests. Context Studio holds your semantic models and business rules, which Hex says keeps the agent's answers grounded, and grounding is the piece worth testing in any AI query layer you shortlist, including the ones here that claim it.

Threads then answers natural-language questions on top of that context, and your people can reach the agent from Slack and MCP.

Connectors cover Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Postgres, MySQL, ClickHouse and 30 or more others, plus dbt, Cube, AtScale, Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, GitHub and GitLab.

Security holds up under review. Hex publishes unbroken annual SOC 2 Type II attestations, a HIPAA multi-tenant add-on, AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit, along with a public trust center and a bug bounty, and it names Anthropic, Ramp, Figma, Brex, Notion, Chime, Rivian, Databricks and AWS among its customers.

Reviewers back the workspace itself. Hex holds 385 G2 reviews at 4.5/5, with Momentum Leader and High Performer badges, and they keep describing an intuitive interface and a smooth handoff between SQL, Python and visualization. That handoff is what reviewers notice first.

The catch is where the agent lives. Community is free and gives you a limited agent trial only. Full agent access starts at Professional, $36/Editor/month, and Team is $75/Editor/month for unlimited published apps, scheduled runs and alerts. Credits meter on top of your seats.

Reviewers flag two real gaps. Charting depth trails dedicated BI tools like Power BI, and native governance features trail Tableau, Mode and ThoughtSpot. Read Hex as a strong analyst workspace with a business-user layer, not as your full BI replacement.

Ranks 6 to 12: where your existing stack decides

Full BI replacement is what the next seven are selling. Among them the deciding question is rarely features. It's which cloud your data already sits in, and which vendor already has your signature.

6. Alteryx, automation-first analytics with an enterprise entry price

845 G2 reviews at 4.6/5, with 92% of reviewers recommending it. Volume, rating and recommendation rate together make this one of the strongest verified signals in the ranking, so you can trust its shape.

Alteryx isn't really a dashboard tool, whatever your team calls it. It's code-free data prep, blending and workflow automation, with AI layered on top: AutoML forecasting the company says can save up to 170 FTE hours monthly, generative narration of patterns and anomalies, and agentic analytics.

You get 100+ prebuilt connectors, cloud, on-premise or hybrid deployment, a Snowflake Marketplace listing and an MCP Server for AI-agent integration.

Your security team gets a well documented trust posture. It covers ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and CCPA alignment, and NIST Cybersecurity and Privacy Framework alignment. Add FIPS and FISMA support, Standard Contractual Clauses, and published Responsible AI Principles. Bank of America's case study reports a 99.94% reduction in test development time.

Where the bill grows

Starter is $250 USD per user/month billed annually, and it caps you at 1 to 10 users with 50 automation runs, cloud only. Professional lifts that to 15,000 automation runs and adds desktop. Both Professional and Enterprise are Contact Sales.

Cost is the single most consistent complaint reviewers raise, and there's no permanent free tier, only a 30-day trial. So if your use case is dashboards for viewers, this is the wrong shape of spend. If it's replacing a wall of brittle spreadsheets and manual prep, the math changes fast.

7. Amazon QuickSight, cheap seats with expensive switches

Now run that math with cheap seats. Reader seats list at $3/user/month, and Author at $24. Then comes the switch. Turn on Pro or Q&A and a $250/month infrastructure fee lands on top of your per-user pricing, with Reader Pro at $20, Author Pro at $40, and SPICE in-memory storage at $0.38/GB/month beyond the 10GB included per Author.

A $3 seat is a bargain for pure viewers. The AI tier is a different purchase entirely, and it belongs on a different budget line.

If your data already sits in AWS, this is still your path of least resistance. You get embedded analytics, natural-language Q&A, generative dashboard summaries and generative data stories, plus what-if Scenarios, Q Topics, and 40+ application integrations. Compliance coverage is stated as FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI DSS, ISO and SOC, with role-based access, SSO and auditing behind it.

Reviewers, 1,614 of them at roughly 4.3/5 on G2, cluster their praise on two things you'd care about: frictionless connection to Redshift, RDS and S3, and AI summaries they describe as genuinely useful rather than gimmicky. Gartner Peer Insights reviewers call the interface fairly easy to learn.

One limit worth naming before you commit. Reviewers repeatedly report restricted chart customization, limited advanced calculations, and UI friction with filters and scrolling once analysis gets deep. Against Tableau or Power BI on visual flexibility, QuickSight loses. There's no permanent free plan either, just a 30-day trial limited to 4 authors.

8. Sigma Computing, spreadsheet-shaped BI that computes inside your warehouse

QuickSight at least publishes its switches. What does Sigma cost? Nobody outside the sales call knows. The pricing page publishes nothing at all: no plan names, no figures, just a 14-day trial and a contact form. Sigma's own license documentation lists four unpriced tiers, View, Act, Analyze and Build, then tells you to contact your account executive.

And the no-code positioning oversells the ramp, which is where the onboarding time you didn't budget goes. Reviewers report needing two or more weeks to become proficient, plus loading lag on large workbooks and permission management that feels less intuitive than competitors.

So what are you actually buying? The architecture, and it decides where your compute runs. Sigma runs compute directly on Snowflake, Databricks, ClickHouse, AWS, Azure or GCP instead of extracting your data. The interface looks like a spreadsheet, which lowers the barrier for your people who will never write SQL.

The AI toolkit documents its own working. Sigma Assistant answers your question and shows the formulas and filters it used, AI Query applies LLM classification, extraction and transformation to your warehouse data, and Sigma Agents execute workflows with write-back.

Company evidence is strong, if vendor stability sits on your checklist. Per its Series E announcement, Sigma raised $80M in May 2026 at a $3B valuation, reached $200M ARR in April 2026, and grew 100%+ year over year, with 2,000+ customers named including DoorDash, AMD, Workday, JPMorgan Chase, Figma and Duolingo.

Reviews run to 641 in total, with Capterra showing 4.3/5 across 83 reviews and customer support rated 4.7/5. Compliance covers SOC 2 Type II, SOC 3, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, ISO 27701, HIPAA, GDPR and CCPA.

9. Metabase, the value pick, and a free tier with no user cap

Against that silence, Metabase publishes everything. What does its free tier cap? Users? No. Nothing. The open-source tier is permanent, self-hosted, and carries unlimited users with unlimited questions and dashboards, which is a different proposition from a free plan that stops you at two seats.

Above it, the anchors are Starter at $90/month for 5 users and Enterprise from $20,000/year, which buys a dedicated success engineer, a 1-day support SLA and air-gap deployment. Pro sits between them at $517.50/month for 10 users, and that's where row and column permissions, SSO and embedded analytics arrive.

Even the metered items are published, which not every vendor here manages.

You get 24 or more databases: BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, ClickHouse and Athena among them. A visual query builder sits beside a full SQL editor, so your mixed-skill team shares one tool.

Capterra rates it 4.5/5 across 62 reviews, a smaller base than the enterprise names, so read it beside the harder numbers before you judge it. The company states 100,000+ companies as users and 49.1k GitHub stars, and named customers include HuggingFace, McDonald's, Capital One, Mistral AI, Linear, Deutsche Telekom and Kong.

Where it slows down

Scale. Users report slow query execution on large datasets, and under heavy concurrency. Dashboards get hard to organize as your deployment grows, and visualization customization is thinner than design-led competitors offer.

Support responsiveness rates 3.9/5 on Capterra, and the Starter plan's SLA is three business days. For a 200-seat company watching its bill, that trade is usually worth making.

10. Google Looker, governed BI for BigQuery shops, with an AI caveat you must read

That trade is about money. Looker's is about eligibility, so read this first if you sell to government or handle regulated data. Google's documentation says Conversational Analytics is not yet included in the FedRAMP High or FedRAMP Medium authorization boundary, and dashboard agents and agentic workflows remain Preview rather than GA. That statement covers the AI feature, so get the wider platform's boundary in writing rather than assuming it.

The rest of the limits are concrete. Responses cap at 50,000 rows per query, data agents can query up to 5 Explores at once, and forecasting and anomaly-detection visualizations aren't supported.

Set that aside and Looker's value is the LookML semantic model, which will shape your whole deployment. You define the metric once, and every query inherits the join logic, the filtering and the permissions, AI queries included.

Conversational Analytics is generally available, powered by Gemini for Google Cloud, and its Advanced Analytics sub-feature translates your question into executed Python for harder analysis. Connectivity is native to BigQuery and GCP before it reaches Salesforce, Snowflake, Redshift, Oracle and PostgreSQL. If you build external data apps, the Embed edition supports up to 500,000 query-based API calls a month against 1,000 on Standard.

Reviewers are warm: 1,556 G2 reviews at 4.4/5, with 64% at five stars and 30% at four, praising dashboards non-technical staff can navigate and reporting that makes decisions more transparent across an org.

Against that, pricing is quote-only across Standard, Enterprise and Embed under annual commitment, there's no free tier, and LookML is steep for non-developers. Looker is a strong choice for BigQuery-native teams and a hard sell for anyone else.

11. Databricks, the lakehouse answer when your analytics problem is really an AI problem

Say the warehouse question doesn't settle it. Then the filter is your bench. Databricks rewards teams with real data engineering capacity, and punishes teams without it. That's the whole evaluation in one line. Everything below is detail.

Breadth on one platform is the draw, and it can collapse three separate purchases into one. Genie handles conversational analytics, Agent Bricks builds agents, and AI Gateway centrally governs models including OpenAI GPT-4, Meta Llama 3 and Anthropic Claude 3. AI Search covers vector storage, while Document Intelligence and Model Serving fill out the stack, with Unity Catalog governing all of it.

Databricks publishes two specific customer proof points. FactSet reports a 44% improvement in accuracy with text-to-code knowledge agents, and Intercontinental Exchange reports 96% accuracy of responses from its financial data agents, on a platform you can deploy multi-cloud across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.

Scale backs it up, if you're wary of betting on the wrong platform. Independently: 1,278 G2 reviews at 4.6/5, plus G2 Top 50 Best Software recognition for 2026. From Databricks itself, the homepage claims 20,000+ customers globally, over 60% of the Fortune 500, and five-time Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader status.

Where the bill grows

The pricing page names no plans and no dollar amounts. You get pay-as-you-go, per-second DBU billing, which means a calculator or a sales call before you can forecast anything.

Reviewers say costs climb quickly with usage and run high on large projects. The free Community Edition is explicitly limited, built for learning Spark rather than for your production work, and reviewers add a steep learning curve on top of complex initial setup and networking.

12. ThoughtSpot, search-first analytics with a named agent suite

So you clear the setup bar. Then the tier decides what you get. Which one gives you Spotter uncapped? Enterprise, at custom pricing. Everything below it rations the feature you came for.

Essentials starts at $25/user/month billed annually for 5 to 50 users and up to 25M rows. Pro starts at $0.10 per credit for up to 1,000 users, and it caps Spotter AI Agents at 25 queries per user per month. So the tier you'd buy for the AI is the tier that rations it, while Enterprise removes the caps, adds unlimited Spotter queries and a 1-hour SLA.

Several vendors here added AI to a dashboard product you already know. ThoughtSpot built the search layer first, then named the agents: Spotter as the AI analyst, plus AgentSpot, SpotterModel, SpotterViz and SpotterCode. Underneath your questions sit a governed semantic layer, dynamic dashboards, Analyst Studio, and embeddable APIs and SDKs.

Security is documented as SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, ISO 27001 and CSA Star Level 1, with AES-256 at rest, TLS in transit, SSO and MFA, and row, column and object-level controls.

On backing, the company reports a $100M raise at a $4.2B valuation and names Sephora, Lyft, Cisco, Vizio, Verisk, Mattel, Worldpay, BD, LG, Brambles and Truist as customers. The independent line beside that is 333 G2 reviews at 4.4/5, with 93% rated four or five stars.

The free Developer plan runs a year for up to 10 users and aims at embedded use cases, not production BI. Reviewers also report occasional glitches, notably when saving worksheets.

Ranks 13 to 17: quote-only platforms and thinner evidence

Glitches at least show themselves. From here down the problem is quieter: several of these ask you to accept less verified information for a comparable amount of money. That isn't automatically disqualifying. It does mean your reference calls carry more weight than usual.

13. Tellius, automated root-cause analysis for large regulated enterprises

Roughly 22 G2 reviews, and none on Capterra. Almost nobody has written up Tellius independently, so your case rests on the customer roster and the analyst mentions.

What it does is specific and genuinely different from what your BI tool does. Tellius automates root-cause analysis, anomaly detection, cohort identification and key driver analysis, then runs scheduled autonomous agents that hand you finished artifacts: PPTX, PDF, DOCX or Slack messages. That's closer to what your executives actually ask for than another dashboard.

Who is it for? Large regulated enterprises. Tellius names Novo Nordisk, Bayer, PepsiCo and eBay as customers, cites five consecutive years of Gartner top-analytics-platform mentions, and publishes trust signals including SOC 2 Type II certification since August 1, 2023 and HIPAA compliance.

Size is what rules it out. Pricing is Customized on both Premium and Enterprise and aimed at enterprises rather than small teams, and reviewers report a real learning curve plus hangs on larger datasets. If you're a small team, you'll feel that.

14. Qlik, broad connectivity with a high published floor

Qlik will sell to you at that size. It just puts the AI two tiers up. The ladder runs Starter, Standard, Premium, Enterprise, and predictive analytics via AutoML lands at Premium, $2,750/month billed annually, while the published floor is Starter at $300/month for 10 users and 10 GB of data capacity. Capacity, not headcount, is what carries you between them, so model your data volume first.

There's no free tier. And when a vendor's own reviewers rate price below everything else, believe them: Qlik's 926 G2 reviews average 4.4/5, with 65% five-star and 28% four-star, while the pricing sub-rating sits at 4.0/5.

Reach is the strength here, whatever your sources look like. Qlik connects to hundreds of data sources, with named support for AWS, Azure, SAP, Snowflake, Databricks and Google Cloud. It ships open APIs for embedding, and you can run it cloud or on-premise.

The AI layer spans Qlik Answers for conversational Q&A, Qlik Predict and AutoML for prediction, Insight Advisor for generated insights, and a Discovery Agent for anomalies. The company states that 75% of the Fortune 500 use Qlik, names Ford, HSBC, BP, PayPal and NHS, and cites Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader placements in Data Quality (2026), Data Analytics (2026) and Data Integration (2025).

15. Zoho Analytics, a huge connector count paired with a genuinely free starting plan

Zoho runs the same kind of meter, and it counts rows rather than people. Basic gives you 0.5 million, Enterprise 50 million. Growing teams hit those ceilings sooner than they expect, so model your row volume before you compare Zoho against Power BI on price.

The free plan is real: 2 users, 10,000 rows, 5 workspaces, unlimited reports and dashboards, with a 15-day no-credit-card trial on paid tiers.

Product depth isn't in question. Zoho lists 500+ native connectors across databases, warehouses, lakes, SaaS apps and files, and Zia is the AI layer: an agent that builds pipelines, reports and dashboards conversationally, plus auto-generated narratives, natural-language querying and forecasting.

The evidence is where you slow down. Zoho self-reports 4.3 to 4.4/5 aggregate consistency across Capterra, G2, Google Play, Gartner Peer Insights and GetApp. Treat that as a vendor disclosure rather than verified third-party sentiment, and ask for the tier sheet and the security documentation in writing.

16. Sisense, an embedding platform for software companies more than a BI tool for analysts

Ask Sisense for the same paperwork, but check fit first. It's built for software companies putting white-labeled analytics inside their own product. If that isn't you, stop here.

If it is you, the real questions are effort and evidence. An embedded deployment built on a Compose SDK and semantic modeling implies real developer time, whatever the marketing says about minimal lift. No engineers to assign? Then this is the wrong tool, however good the feature list looks.

Sisense states it is a G2 leader with 500+ five-star reviews. That's a vendor claim rather than a verified aggregate, and it's the central caveat you carry into this entry.

Compliance is documented as SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, with HIPAA readiness and column-level security on Enterprise, which also carries a stated 99.99% SLA and a dedicated success manager. Neither tier carries a published price you can compare: Self-Serve offers a trial, Enterprise is a custom quote, and there's no permanent free plan.

17. Pyramid Analytics, deep feature coverage, thin market evidence

Pyramid carries the same evidence problem and a different pitch. It queries your data where it lives: the PYRANA direct-query engine avoids duplicating anything, and GenBI natural-language chat, automated Explain insights and one-click forecasting run on top of it.

Who is it for? Large organizations that can absorb the cost and the ramp. Pyramid's homepage cites strong analyst placement: Visionary in Gartner's 2026 Magic Quadrant for Analytics and BI, first in Gartner's 2026 Critical Capabilities, and first in the BARC BI and Analytics Survey 26, with FDA, Volkswagen and Deloitte named as deployments.

The independent review record is small. PeerSpot aggregates 4.0/5 across 22 reviews with a 91% recommendation rate, so you're reading a positive skew with analyst recognition doing much of the persuading for you.

Now the friction, in reviewers' words:

Certain tasks simpler in competitors like Power BI require more complicated workflows in Pyramid Analytics.

Reviewers also say requested feature improvements take extended periods to materialize, and that licensing cost is a barrier for smaller and mid-market companies. Pricing is a quote on both Pyramid Deployed and Pyramid Managed, with no figures published. You'll be negotiating blind, so bring a competing quote.

Ranks 18 to 20: check the category before you check the capability

A competing quote assumes you're comparing like with like. Two of these three answer a different question than the one you came with, and the one that doesn't comes with an ownership question attached. Read the category line before the feature list.

18. Amplitude, product analytics with an AI agent layer and a support reputation to check

Amplitude is product analytics, not BI. If your job is a company-wide dashboard standard, it isn't a candidate. If your job is understanding what users do inside your product, it is.

The independent evidence is uncomfortable. Trustpilot shows 1.6/5 across 47 reviews: low volume, and sharply negative where it exists. That is what the public record shows, so read the rest of this entry as capability description, not endorsement.

The AI layer covers Global Agent and AI Agents for natural-language querying, Agent Analytics, AI Feedback categorization and AI Data Governance, with an MCP server connecting Claude or Cursor to your Amplitude data. Amplitude states its Global Agent resolves 76% of customer issues on average across 4,900+ customers, a company figure without an independent benchmark behind it.

Pricing starts genuinely free at 2M events a month with no credit card, and Plus starts at $0, scaling with your usage up to 70M events a month. Growth and Enterprise are custom and event-based, with Growth including 20K monthly session replays and 2,500 active AI Visibility prompts, and Enterprise 50K replays.

Put the recurring complaints on your reference call: difficulty canceling contracts, unresponsive support especially for free-tier users, slow dashboard loading and confusing navigation.

19. Domo, a broad AI layer attached to a company mid-acquisition

Keep that reference call open, because Domo's first question isn't about features. Who owns the roadmap in a year? Ask, because it may be Progress. Progress Software agreed on July 22, 2026 to acquire substantially all of Domo's operating business for $400 million, the deal is expected to close by November 30, 2026, and it is still pending. So get the answer about your roadmap and your support organization twelve months out before you sign.

Then there is the bill. Pricing is sales-quoted on a credit-consumption model with no list figures, and 1,089 G2 reviewers place Domo in G2's highest cost tier on a roughly 11-month average payback. Pair that with implementations averaging around three months and you need a longer runway than the demo suggests.

The product itself is a full BI platform, not a niche tool, rated 4.3/5 by those reviewers. They praise dashboard quality, connector breadth, and the built-in security, access controls and governance your admins inherit.

Domo's agentic stance is broad. AI Agent Builder, reusable AI Toolkits and a centralized AI Library sit alongside DomoGPT private-model chat, plus a Text Generation Tile inside Magic ETL and Automated Insights. The Domo MCP Server then exposes your Domo data, dashboards and workflows to Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT directly.

Financially the company is established: Domo reports $317.0 million in FY2025 revenue and over 2,600 customers as of January 31, 2025, on a NASDAQ listing that dates to its June 29, 2018 IPO.

20. DataRobot, an AI platform your data science team buys, not your BI team

Ownership was Domo's question. Here it's category. If you're buying dashboards and self-service querying, this is a different kind of purchase. Is that disqualifying? Only if your project is BI. For production machine learning with governance, it belongs on your list.

DataRobot covers six integrated areas: Agentic AI, Generative AI, Predictive AI, AI Governance, AI Observability and AI Foundation. You can deploy it in the cloud, in a VPC, on-premise, or as SaaS, integration is API-led, and co-engineered partnerships run to NVIDIA, SAP, Dell and Nebius.

Around 150 G2 reviews put roughly 96% at four or five stars, with Ease of Setup consistently the weakest sub-score at about 7.0. High satisfaction, real onboarding friction, which is the normal shape for enterprise ML platforms. The company reports three-time Leader placement in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms, and cites a top-five global bank reaching $70M ROI across 40+ AI use cases.

Pricing is the hard stop for a BI shortlist. The pricing page publishes no plans, no tiers and no figures, only demo and trial paths, and no permanent free tier.

Ranks 21 and 22: conversation-first products, and why they finish last

Price was where DataRobot stopped. These two stop somewhere harder to fix. Both are built around a conversation with your data, which is the same thing several vendors above them reached by adding AI to a dashboard product. So why do they sit at the bottom? Because independent evidence is what separates a demo from a deployment, and the independent evidence here is bad.

21. Powerdrill, transparent pricing and almost no market validation

Powerdrill does publish its prices, which puts it ahead of nine tools ranked above it. The free plan gives you 1,000 daily refreshed credits and 1 scheduled task. Pro lists at $16.58/month, Plus at $33.25/month, Premium at $165.83/month, and Team Pro at $16.58 per seat per month with shared team credits. The site advertises a 20% discount across those paid tiers, which is where the lower figures you may see quoted come from. Price your budget off the list rate, not the promotion.

The third-party record is two Trustpilot reviews, on an unclaimed profile, both negative. That is the entire independent basis you have to work with.

The feature list reads well if your team is small. You get chat with a database via text-to-SQL, a DataFact data-visualization agent, and AI report and presentation generation, plus Smart DocMap, scheduled agents, a no-code app builder, and a full REST API across v1 and v2. The company states GDPR, ISO 27001, ISO 20000 and SOC 2 Type 2 compliance, and offers on-premise or private-cloud deployment for sensitive data.

Then a reviewer describes the core promise failing:

Completely ignores the dataset content.

Another reports a billing dispute they call illegal billing, and describes response quality as inconsistent. The documentation names no third-party BI or warehouse connectors beyond SQL database chat and file upload, and no funding, customer count or adoption figures appear anywhere on the site.

For a personal pilot at $16.58 your downside is small. For a company standardizing on a platform, the evidence isn't there yet.

22. Julius AI, well funded and badly reviewed

Trustpilot rates it 1.9/5 across 16 reviews, with 75% at one star. The funding tells a different story. Per its funding announcement, Bessemer Venture Partners led a $10M seed round on July 28, 2025, with Y Combinator, 8VC and Horizon VC joining, alongside angels including Perplexity's Aravind Srinivas and Vercel's Guillermo Rauch.

The company reports more than 2 million users and over 10 million visualizations generated. Rahul Sonwalkar founded it in 2022.

The product does what the category promises. Natural language in, dataset analysis, visualization and predictive modeling out, no code required from you. But the reviews that exist go straight at output integrity, and one line captures it:

Creates data out of nowhere.

Reviewers describe garbage results requiring manual rework, and incorrect statistical output. Credit consumption is called rapid and opaque, including one report of 27 credits burned on a single simple question. Others describe billing disputes: unauthorized upgrades to a premium tier, denied refunds, and a charge of £388 against an advertised £38.

You're accountable for numbers other people will act on. Fabricated output is the one failure mode you can't manage around, and that's why it ranks last despite a product built from the start around conversational analysis.

What do you ask in the sales call?

Both of those failed on evidence, not on features. That's the same test your last two candidates have to pass. Your shortlist is probably two or three names now, and these are the questions that turn a demo into a defensible decision. Most of them won't be answered on a pricing page.

Is the AI feature inside the same compliance boundary as the platform? Name the FedRAMP tier you need and HIPAA, and get the answer in writing for the feature and the platform separately. Google's documentation places Looker's Conversational Analytics outside the FedRAMP High and FedRAMP Medium authorization boundary today.
Which AI features are generally available, and which are Preview? Preview features can change under you. Looker's dashboard agents are Preview right now.
What does a view-only seat cost at 300 people? Power BI needs a license for anyone viewing or editing. Tableau's Viewer is $15/user/month while Creator is $75. That gap decides your total, not the demo.
Are AI credits metered separately from compute, and what's the cap? ThoughtSpot Pro caps Spotter at 25 queries per user per month. Deepnote's free plan allows 5 Agent calls a month. Metabase bills AI tokens at $3.75 per 1M.
Is there an infrastructure fee at the Pro tier? QuickSight adds $250/month once Pro or Q&A is enabled, on top of your seats.
What storage is included, and what does overflow cost? QuickSight includes 10GB of SPICE per Author and charges $0.38/GB/month above it. Qlik gates capacity by tier, from 10 GB at Starter to a 250 GB floor at Enterprise.
How long is implementation in weeks, and who builds the semantic model? Domo reviewers report roughly three months. Sigma reviewers report two or more weeks just to reach proficiency. Someone still has to model your data before self-service AI means anything.
Who owns the roadmap in twelve months? Ask Domo directly about the pending $400 million Progress Software acquisition, and ask any vendor that publishes no funding data how it is capitalized.

Questions buyers ask at this stage

Do you need the AI tier in year one?

If you intend to judge the AI at all, yes. ThoughtSpot Pro rations Spotter to 25 queries per user per month. Deepnote's free plan allows five Agent calls a month, and Hex's Community agent is a trial only. Evaluate the AI on a paid month, not a free one, or you'll be forming an opinion about a feature you never really ran.

Is the AI layer included in the base price, or does it cost extra?

Included more often than not, on this list. Snowflake's Cortex, Sigma's Assistant, Zoho's Zia, Databricks' Genie, Alteryx's AutoML, Tellius, Pyramid's GenBI, Domo and DataRobot all run inside the platform you already buy. The separate charges sit at Tableau, QuickSight, Hex and Deepnote, while Metabase bills AI tokens at $3.75 per 1M and Powerdrill meters credits, and ThoughtSpot rations Spotter by tier instead. Column four of the table tells you which way each vendor went. Two cases a table can't hold.

Looker's Conversational Analytics is generally available, but Google's documentation places it outside the FedRAMP High and FedRAMP Medium authorization boundary, which makes it an eligibility question rather than a billing one. Qlik's AutoML isn't an add-on at all: it arrives with the $2,750/month Premium tier, so the AI decision drags your whole plan up with it.

Why do so many analytics vendors keep pricing off the page, and what should I ask?

Quote-only pricing is the norm at the enterprise end of this category, and Sigma, Looker, Tellius, Sisense, Pyramid Analytics, DataRobot and Domo all take that route. It isn't automatically a bad deal. It does remove your ability to compare before the call. Ask for a written quote at your actual headcount. Then get the renewal uplift cap, the cost of a viewer seat, and whether your AI usage is billed separately from platform access.

Seat-based or consumption-based pricing: which is more likely to blow up a budget?

Consumption, on this evidence. Snowflake reviewers report unpredictable costs from frequent queries, oversized warehouses and cross-region data movement, and Databricks reviewers say costs climb quickly with usage, on a per-second DBU model with no published rates. Domo's credit model draws the highest cost rating on G2.

Seat pricing is easier to forecast, but your risk shifts to license sprawl. With Power BI, everyone who views a report needs a license, and with Tableau, the jump from a $15 Viewer to a $75 Creator is where budgets quietly break.

Do the AI features fall inside enterprise compliance boundaries like FedRAMP and HIPAA?

Not always, and it's the check most teams skip, so put it on your list. Google's documentation says Looker's Conversational Analytics is not yet in the FedRAMP High or FedRAMP Medium authorization boundary. That covers the AI feature rather than the wider platform, so ask about both.

Snowflake documents FedRAMP Moderate and High plus DoD IL4/IL5, HITRUST and PCI-DSS at the platform level, while QuickSight states FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI DSS, ISO and SOC support. Tableau Agent routes through Salesforce's Einstein Trust Layer, which Salesforce says keeps customer data and conversations out of the underlying model. Verify the feature, not the brand.

How long do these platforms take to roll out, and how steep is the learning curve?

Plan for months, not weeks, on the enterprise platforms, whatever your project plan says. Domo reviewers report implementations averaging around three months. Sigma reviewers need two or more weeks to reach proficiency despite no-code positioning, and Power BI's DAX learning curve is one of the complaints its G2 reviewers raise repeatedly.

Looker's LookML is repeatedly called challenging for non-developers. Tableau logs 275 mentions of a steep curve on LOD expressions, and Databricks and DataRobot both draw setup-complexity complaints. The pattern is consistent. The AI layer answers questions quickly, and someone still has to model the data underneath it first.
