Two different products are being sold to you under the same three words. One turns a sentence into a working full-stack app and bills you by the credit. The other is a mature site platform with a store and a booking calendar already built for you, with AI added at the front door. Both call themselves AI website builders. Only one of them fits what you are actually trying to do.

Lovable ranks first because it generates real full-stack code from a prompt and syncs it to GitHub, with a company behind it that raised a $400M Series C in August 2026. Then comes the catch. Lovable, v0, Replit, Bolt.new and Base44 all bill by AI credits, and reviewers of all five report the meter moving faster than they expected. At Bolt.new and Base44 they pin that burn on the AI fixing its own bugs. If you want a bill you can forecast and a store that already works, a flat-fee platform like Wix (genuine free plan, no card) or Squarespace (4.6/5 across 3,418 Capterra reviews) will serve you better.

Here is the pattern that should change how you shop. Funding and raw capability do not predict how customers feel. Bolt.new sits at 1.5/5 across 199 Trustpilot reviews, and Base44 manages 2.8/5 across 857 reviews, 54% of them one star, and both are AI-native code generators with serious technology behind them. Two other AI-native tools land at the opposite end: Lovable at 4.6/5 across 381 G2 reviews and Replit at 4.5/5 across 357. Most of the flat-fee incumbents run between 4.2 and 4.7, with Canva the exception at 4.0/5 across 6,893 reviews, and the counts behind all of these swing from a couple of hundred to several thousand.

Two purchases wearing one label

The divide that does matter is not about ratings at all. It runs along the line between two different products, so before you compare prices, work out which species you are buying. Comparing Lovable to Squarespace is like comparing a table saw to a kitchen table. Both are useful. They are not alternatives.

Full-stack AI code generators. Lovable (1), v0 by Vercel (2), Replit (6), Base44 (14), Bolt.new (18). You prompt, they write code, you get an application. Almost all of them meter you by credits or tokens.
Flat-fee all-in-one platforms. Wix (3), Duda (5), Squarespace (7), Hostinger AI Builder (9), Durable (11), B12 (15), GoDaddy Airo (19). Mature store and blog stacks with AI generation bolted on. Predictable monthly price, less room to move.
WordPress and agency stacks. Elementor (4) and 10Web (8). AI inside a WordPress workflow, with the plugin ecosystem and the client-management tooling that comes with it.
Design-first and component builders. Framer (10), Webflow (12), Dorik (13), Relume (16), Canva (17). Built for people who care how the thing looks; several of them also let the output travel.
Thin-evidence entrants. CodeDesign.ai (20), Butternut AI (21), Wegic (22). Broad feature claims, very little independent customer feedback behind them.

So which one are you? If a developer will ever touch this site, buy from the first or fourth group and insist on code you can export. If the site is the business and you need bookings and payments by Friday, buy flat fee.

What do all 22 cost, and what can you carry out the door?

Flat fee or credits, the sticker price is where the conversation starts. Entry price is the number vendors advertise. The next three columns decide whether you are still happy in a year.

22. Wegic	$39.9/mo ($23.9/mo annual)	No: free plan needs a $2.99 purchase	Credits, 600 to 2,000/mo	Reviewers report no code export	5 Trustpilot reviews

Twelve of the 22 have a permanent free plan. Ten do not, and several of those sell you a "free" experience that turns out to be a trial with a countdown on it. The billing column hides the bigger surprise.

What one credit actually buys you

That is the column nobody wants to explain. A $25 sticker price tells you almost nothing when the work is metered, because the meter measures the AI's effort, not your progress. When the AI writes a bug and then spends three attempts fixing it, you pay for all four attempts.

Tool	Free allotment	Entry paid allotment	The catch
Lovable	5 build credits/day, 30/mo	100 credits/mo on Pro ($25)	Scales to 10,000 credits/mo at $2,250; reviewers say credits disappear faster than expected
v0 by Vercel	$5 credits, 7 messages/day	$30 credits per user on Plus	Four model tiers; reviewers report a full app build eating a month of credits in a few prompts
Replit	1 live project, 1 background task	$20 toward top models on Core	Reviewers report unexpected overage charges
Base44	25 message credits/mo, 100 integration credits	100 message credits on Starter ($16)	Unused credits are lost at month end, and reviewers say debugging drains them
Bolt.new	300K tokens/day, 1M/mo	10M tokens/mo on Pro, unused roll over	The top Trustpilot complaint is tokens spent fixing the AI's own bugs
Duda	-	150 AI credits/mo on Basic	Still 150 credits/mo on White Label at $199
Squarespace	-	10 one-time credits on the entry plan	20, 40 then 120 credits/mo as you climb
Hostinger	-	5 AI credits on Premium ($2.99/mo)	15 credits plus 500 to 1,000 agent credits higher up
10Web	-	100 credits/mo on AI Starter ($10)	Reviewers say minor edits burn credits and can change unrelated elements
B12	5 credits/day, capped at 30/mo	200 credits/mo on Website ($49)	First three months at $1/mo, then the full price
Framer	500 AI credits	Basic $10/mo	Extra editors $20/mo, locales $20 each, Convert $50 per 500k events
Butternut AI	-	100 credits/mo on Starter ($20)	300 credits/mo on Pro at $69
Wegic	-	600 credits/mo on Starter	2,000 credits/mo on Premium at $69.9
Elementor	-	25,000 monthly AI credits on Elementor One	The AI suite sits on a separate product line from the $49/year plugin

Rule of thumb: if a tool meters you, budget double the entry tier for your first month and treat anything cheaper as a pleasant surprise. Does that make credits a scam? No. Metering is how a vendor survives selling you an expensive model. Just don't confuse the sticker with the bill. Price the meter in, and the shortlist gets short.

Which one should you pick?

Best value: Durable. The free plan hands you a real AI-generated site, and Launch at $22/month adds the AI blog writer and 1,000 AI chat messages on top of a platform that already carries the CRM, the booking calendar and payments. Durable puts the bundle at roughly seven separate subscriptions worth about $396 a month.
Best for beginners: Squarespace. Capterra reviewers rate ease of use 4.5/5 across 3,418 reviews, and the Blueprint AI Builder starts you from a short set of questions rather than a blank canvas.
Best free tier if you code: v0 by Vercel. No trial clock, $5 of monthly credits, and the output is React code that deploys in one click.
Best free tier if you don't: Wix. Permanent, no credit card, and you can build and preview a full site before you hand over a payment detail.
Easiest to walk away from: Webflow. It hands you clean HTML, CSS and JavaScript on the way out, a documented exit rather than a promise.
Best for teams and agencies: Elementor. Higher tiers cover up to 25 sites and 5,000 cloud templates inside a WordPress workflow your whole team already knows.
Security paperwork on the record: Lovable. It states SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 certification with independent third-party audits, and reports $500M in annualized run-rate revenue. Base44 and Duda publish comparable sets, so treat this as a tie rather than a win.

The 22 AI website builders, ranked

1. Lovable, full-stack code you can take with you

Lovable does the thing the whole category promises. You describe an app in plain language and it writes the frontend, the backend, the database and the authentication, then syncs the result to GitHub or GitLab. That last part matters more than the generation does. You end up with code in a repository, editable by any developer you hire next year.

G2 reviewers rate it 4.6/5 across 381 reviews. They keep returning to the same two things: how fast an idea becomes a working prototype, and how far a non-coder can drive it. One reviewer put the appeal as not having to code, which frees them to concentrate on functionality.

The company underneath isn't fragile either. TechCrunch reported a $400M Series C at a $13.3B valuation in August 2026, alongside $500M in annualized run-rate revenue, 900 million monthly visitors and 60 million hosted projects.

Where does it hurt? The bill. Free gives you 5 build credits a day and 30 a month, enough to see the trick and not enough to finish anything. Pro starts at $25/month for 100 credits and climbs to $2,250 for 10,000. Reviewers describe credits disappearing faster than expected, and say complex builds still leave you debugging by hand once the AI loses context.

Plans: Free (5 daily, 30 monthly credits), Pro from $25/month, Business from $50/month with SSO and RBAC, Enterprise custom
Lovable states SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 certification, with GDPR commitments and audit logs on higher tiers
Native GitHub and GitLab sync, Supabase, Slack, Telegram, plus a Lovable MCP server

Buy it if you are building a product rather than a brochure and can live with a metered bill. If your budget needs a monthly number you can forecast to the dollar, keep reading.

2. v0 by Vercel, a free tier with no clock on it

Lovable hands you a whole app. v0 aims narrower, at the front end, and it publishes benchmark numbers for its own output. On Vercel's own benchmark, the v0-1.5-md model hits a 93.87% error-free code generation rate against 78.43% for Claude Opus and 58.82% for GPT-4.1. Vercel also claims its AutoFix model catches and repairs streaming code errors 10 to 40 times faster than competing models.

Is this a builder for someone with no developer? No. The output is React and TypeScript with accessibility and responsive design built in, and it deploys to Vercel in one click, but it assumes you know what to do with code once you have it.

The free plan is why it takes the best-free-tier pick for people who write code. You get $5 of included monthly credits, 7 messages a day, and no expiry date hanging over you. Paid starts at $30 per user per month for Plus and $100 per user per month for Business.

Seven messages a day is tight. Credit spend is hard to predict across four model tiers, and reviewers say v0 struggles once you ask for multi-step flows, state management and real data wiring. It builds beautiful front-ends. It won't run your business logic for you.

Bi-directional GitHub sync with automatic branch and pull request creation, plus Figma design import
Vercel raised $300M in a Series F at a $9.3B valuation and reported $340M run-rate revenue, up 86% year on year
Vercel states that enterprise data is never used for training, while free, Plus and Business prompts are used by default

Developers and product teams prototyping React front-ends will get the most out of it. If nobody on your side writes code, or the app lives or dies on multi-step logic, you want something else.

3. Wix, the free plan that is actually free

That something else is usually Wix. It is an easy first move for most small businesses, and the reason is unglamorous. The free plan is permanent and needs no credit card. You can build the whole site, look at it, hate it, rebuild it, and never hand over a payment detail. Relume's free tier also skips the card, and Duda's 14-day trial does the same.

The AI is real, if less dramatic than the code generators. Describe your business and Wix builds you a complete site structure, with pages, layout and on-brand copy. Then it hands you Aria as an ongoing AI agent, plus Wixel for design, an AI text creator, an AI image generator and AI meta-tag suggestions.

Underneath sits the mature stack: ecommerce, bookings, email marketing, events, the 2,000+ templates Wix advertises, and an App Market with QuickBooks, WhatsApp and TikTok Ads integrations.

G2 rates it 4.2/5 across 1,971 reviews, with 88% giving four or five stars. The complaints are consistent enough that you can plan around them. Trustpilot reviewers report slow support and payment or payout holds with poor communication, and G2 reviewers find advanced customization limited once a project gets ambitious.

Light $17.77/mo: 2 GB storage, 2 collaborators, free domain for a year
Core $29.77/mo: 50 GB, basic ecommerce, 5 collaborators. This is where selling starts
Business $39.77/mo and Business Elite $159.77/mo: 100 GB then unlimited, up to 100 collaborators
Prices shown are annual billing with GST included, with a 14-day money-back guarantee

So it comes down to ambition. A small business that wants to try everything before paying anything is well served here. If your design has an unusual shape and you want code-level control over it, that ceiling arrives early.

4. Elementor, for the team that already lives in WordPress

Want that control back? Elementor isn't a hosted builder. It's a plugin, and that single fact decides whether it belongs on your shortlist. You bring the WordPress site and the hosting. Elementor brings the visual editor, the Theme Builder, the Popup Builder, dynamic content, forms and up to 85 Pro widgets.

Because the site lives on your host, nobody can lock you out of it. That's more than several tools here can say.

If you run a team, the scale argues for itself. Elementor states 22+ million websites built, and that it powers 13% of websites worldwide. Time, CNN, Disney, Rolling Stone and National Geographic are named as customers. The Expert tier covers 25 sites with 5,000 cloud templates, which is agency territory rather than solo-founder territory. Trustpilot reviewers rate it 4.4/5 across 4,243 reviews and single out fast, professional support.

None of that is free. Pricing starts at $49/year for Essential, covering one site and 57 widgets with no AI at all. The AI suite sits on the separate Elementor One line, which includes 25,000 monthly AI credits. That suite covers the AI Site Planner, Angie, and the content, image and logo generators, built on OpenAI, Stability AI, Azure and Anthropic. There is no free plan.

One gripe recurs. Reviewers report the AI features not performing as advertised, and describe getting stuck in a virtual assistant loop when they want a human.

If your team already builds on WordPress, Elementor slots in without an argument. If you have no WordPress site and no appetite for running hosting yourself, it is the wrong shape entirely.

5. Duda, built for people managing other people's sites

Duda answers a different question. What if the sites aren't yours? If you build sites for other people, it was built for you. White-labeling, client account management, a developer portal, an API, and a Developer Mode that exposes raw HTML and CSS. The company says it serves 23,000+ agencies and partners, that hosting partners generate 220 sites a day on the platform, and that agencies see build times cut by half.

The AI layer is Vibe, a conversational site and app generator, plus a Copilot assistant and an AI Widget Builder. Trustpilot reviewers, 76% of them five-star across 195 reviews, describe the editor as exceptionally intuitive and fast.

So what's the complaint? Depth in the wrong places. The dissenters, 14% at one star, report inconsistent support on specialized needs, and several reviewers want the ecommerce and billing tools improved.

Basic $25/mo ($19 annual), Team $39/mo ($29), Agency $69/mo ($52) with 4 sites, White Label $199/mo ($149)
Every tier gets 150 AI credits a month. Every single one, including the $199 plan
GDPR, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 compliance stated, on AWS, with a 99.5% uptime target
No free plan. The 14-day trial does at least skip the credit card

Best fit: agencies, hosts and SaaS platforms running many client sites at once. Skip if: you are one person with one site, or the store is the centerpiece.

6. Replit, the agent that plans before it builds

Back to the code generators, then. Replit's Agent turns a prompt into a deployed app with auth, a database and hosting attached. It also plans the work before it starts and tests its own output, with rollback checkpoints when a build goes wrong. That answers the biggest fear in this category: an AI confidently breaking something that worked for you yesterday.

Reviewers reward it for that. G2 rates it 4.5/5 across 357 reviews, with 82% rating its prompt understanding highly. Its homepage advertises 100+ integrations, including OpenAI, Stripe, Google Workspace, BigQuery, Slack, Notion and Linear. The same page states SOC 2 compliance plus SSO and SAML for larger teams.

Now the pricing. Starter is free, but it lets you publish only one live project. Core is $20/month ($17 annual) and includes $20 toward the most powerful models. Pro is $100/month ($95 annual) with 10 parallel agents and 28-day database rollback.

Read that dollar figure carefully. It's a credit allowance, not a ceiling. G2 reviewers report unpredictable agent credit burn and surprise overage charges, so the number on your plan is a floor.

That floor is fine if you are prototyping and want a deployed app the same day. If an unpredictable month would hurt your budget, this is not the one to fall for.

7. Squarespace, the one to hand a nervous beginner

Low risk is the other way to shop. If you've never built a site and the prospect makes your shoulders tense, start here. Squarespace's Blueprint AI Builder asks a few questions and produces a personalized site, and the company says the builder was named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2025.

Awards are one thing. Capterra reviewers rate ease of use 4.5/5 and customer service 4.4/5, for an overall 4.6/5 across 3,418 reviews. That's one of the deepest, calmest review bases here.

Everything a small business needs is already inside: templates, ecommerce, invoicing, scheduling, email marketing, memberships and an Extensions marketplace, with an AI Writer and AI SEO tools layered on. Squarespace states certification under the EU-U.S., Swiss-U.S. and UK Data Privacy Frameworks, and names a dedicated security team.

There's no permanent free plan, only a 14-day trial, so you'll be paying before you fully know. And the AI credits are stingy at the bottom: 10 one-time credits on the entry plan, 20 a month on the next, 40, then 120 at the top. Reviewers repeat two familiar criticisms, that customization gets restrictive for unusual layouts, and that there's a recognizable Squarespace look.

Plan ladder: Basic, Core, Plus, Advanced, separated mainly by AI credits and commerce depth

Best fit: portfolios, service businesses and small stores that value polish over control. Skip if: you want to hand the site to a developer later.

8. 10Web, AI generation with WordPress underneath

That developer handoff is exactly what 10Web protects, which makes it the compromise candidate. The AI generates the site, but what it generates is WordPress, so you inherit the 60,000+ plugins 10Web cites, WooCommerce and the wider WordPress ecosystem. It also clones an existing site from a URL and imports Figma designs, which makes it useful for redesigns rather than fresh starts.

The review base is unusually large for a tool this size: 4.6/5 from 156 G2 reviews and 4.3/5 from 2,365 Trustpilot reviews, with support speed the most praised feature.

The complaints are just as consistent. Credits get consumed by small edits and can change page elements you didn't touch.

Changing one simple thing takes 5 hours.

A Trustpilot reviewer describing 10Web

Renewals arrive unexpectedly, and refunds go through support tickets. So what should you take from that? Budget time, not only credits.

AI Starter $10/mo (1 site, 100 credits), AI Premium $15/mo (2 sites, 200), AI Ultimate $22.50/mo (4 sites, 300)
Agency Starter $42.50/mo (10 sites, 400 credits) and Agency Core $80/mo (20 sites, 600)
No free plan, but a 30-day money-back guarantee, plus a Website Builder API and white-label reseller tooling

Freelancers and small agencies who want AI speed without leaving WordPress will be happy here. If your workflow is lots of small tweaks, though, small tweaks are exactly what the credits punish.

9. Hostinger AI Builder (Horizons), a low headline price on a long commitment

If credits are one trap, price is the other. The number that pulls you in here is $2.99/month. Look at what sits beside it. That price is the Premium plan's promotional rate against a regular $10.99, and all the published pricing is locked to 48-month commitment terms. Unlimited is $3.99 against a regular $16.99, and Cloud Startup is $7.99 against $25.99.

Reviewers describe renewal pricing tripling or quadrupling once the intro term ends, sometimes on auto-renewal they didn't expect.

What you get for it is broad, by Hostinger's own account. AI Writer for SEO copy, an AI logo maker, AI-generated product titles and imagery, and full ecommerce with 0% transaction fees across 100+ payment methods. Backend app tooling covers databases, user accounts and file storage. Stripe, PayPal, Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, WhatsApp and Hotjar all connect natively.

Capterra reviewers rate it 4.6/5 across 636 reviews and praise the uptime and page speed. Hostinger says it has been operating 20+ years across 150+ countries with 10M+ websites.

The real catch is portability. Capterra reviewers say the builder locks pages into a format that's hard to copy or modify elsewhere, and that anything advanced gets tricky fast. Support is live chat only, with no phone line. Cheap entry, hard exit.

Best fit: a budget-conscious beginner who wants hosting and AI copy in one low monthly line item. Skip if: you might move the site elsewhere, or four years is longer than your plans.

10. Framer, for people who care how it looks

Price was the pull there. Here it is polish. Framer treats the AI as a design collaborator on a canvas rather than a code robot in a chat window. It generates editable pages, sections, copy and visuals from a description, builds custom code components, and audits your site for SEO and accessibility problems. You even pick the model per task, choosing between GPT, Sonnet, Opus and Fable.

G2 reviewers rate it 4.5/5 across 142 reviews, praising how quickly an idea becomes a live, polished site with no developer handoff.

The free plan is genuine, with 500 AI credits, a Framer subdomain and 1 GB of bandwidth. Basic is $10/month, Pro is $30/month with a staging environment, and Enterprise adds SSO and SCIM.

Add-ons drive the real cost: extra editors $20/mo, translation locales $20 each, Convert $50 per 500k events, advanced hosting $200/mo
CMS, hosting, SEO, A/B testing and localization are bundled rather than bolted on
Reviewers report performance degrading as projects grow large, so size your ambitions accordingly

Best fit: designers and small teams shipping a sharp marketing site without a developer. Skip if: the project will grow big, or you need one predictable number rather than a stack of add-ons.

11. Durable, the best value on this list

One predictable number is exactly what Durable sells. It answers three questions about your business and, the company says, produces a site in about 30 seconds. That claim would be forgettable on its own. What makes Durable the value pick is everything bundled behind the site: an AI logo and brand builder, an image studio, an AI blog writer, a CRM, booking, payments, SEO tooling and review management, all in one subscription.

Durable positions the Launch plan as replacing roughly seven separate subscriptions worth about $396 a month combined. Trustpilot puts it at 4.7/5 across 321 reviews, 89% of them five-star, with reviewers naming individual support staff who helped them.

Free: a working generated website, 5 images a month, 10 AI chat messages, CRM for up to 10 customers
Launch $22/month billed monthly: 10 AI blog posts, 1,000 AI chat messages, lead agent 20/month
Grow $41/month billed monthly: 32 blog posts, unlimited AI chat, lead agent 100/month

Durable's official pages name no third-party integrations and no public API, so it's a closed garden. Trustpilot reviewers also report prolonged domain locks and delayed EPP transfer codes when they tried to leave. If you go with Durable, register your domain somewhere else.

One price for a site, a CRM and a booking page is a genuinely good deal when you are running solo. If your business runs on connected tools and needs an API, that closed garden will hold you back.

12. Webflow, professional control at a professional learning curve

Webflow sits at the opposite end of that. Its AI Site Builder generates full multi-page sites from prompts, drafts CMS content in bulk and runs AI-powered A/B testing. But the AI is the newest layer on a serious professional tool: full CSS control, a real CMS, managed hosting with a claimed 99.99% uptime SLA, and clean exportable code.

Can you learn it in a weekend? No. More than 100 G2 reviewers describe a steep learning curve, especially around responsive design and animation. Plan for weeks.

It says 300,000+ teams use it, including Dropbox, The New York Times and Docusign. G2 puts it at 4.4/5 across 996 reviews with 71% five-star.

The free Starter plan gives you 1,000 monthly visits, 50 CMS items and 2 static pages. Basic is $15/month billed yearly with 300 static pages and no CMS. The merged Premium tier is $25/month billed yearly, with 20,000 CMS items and 40 collections. That came out of a May 2026 pricing overhaul, which also added AI credits to Workspace plans.

Code export gives you a documented way out, which is more than Hostinger and Wegic reviewers found when they tried to take a build elsewhere
68+ reviewers flag pricing as expensive and prone to increases
The CMS has field caps and nesting limits that frustrate complex builds

Best fit: designers and marketing teams who want control now and an exit later. Skip if: the site has to be live this week and nobody has time to learn a new tool.

13. Dorik, a fast, friendly generator with a small ecosystem

Live this week is Dorik's entire pitch. Dorik says one sentence gets you a full multi-page site in under 60 seconds, with copy from GPT-4 and images from DALL-E. G2 reviewers rate it 4.6/5 across 255 reviews and consistently name two things: how easy it is for non-technical people, and how responsive support is. Dorik claims 100,000+ users and names Netflix, Stanford University, Flippa and Decathlon among its customers.

Pricing rewards commitment.

Personal: $10.38/month on two-year billing ($249), $20.75/month annually, $29/month monthly, or $249 once for lifetime. Covers 1 domain, 25 pages and 200 blog posts
Business: $20.75/month on two-year billing, $59/month monthly or $599 lifetime. Covers 3 domains, unlimited pages and 10 collaborators
Agency: $79/month annually

What about trying it first? Seven days, with no free plan behind it. Reviewers get frustrated when they hit plan limits after investing hours. Code export is included, which softens the risk considerably.

Integrations cover Stripe, PayPal, Gumroad, Zapier, Mailchimp, Airtable, Shopify and Ecwid, though reviewers still describe the connector list as thin next to bigger platforms.

A fast launch and an export button is a rare pairing, and non-technical founders and freelancers feel that most. If your stack depends on a deep connector list, this is not where you want to land.

14. Base44, capable on day one, strained by week three

Connectors are one thing Base44 has in abundance. Reputation is the problem. Trustpilot rates it 2.8/5 across 857 reviews, with 54% at one star against 34% at five. Reviewers describe the same arc: something impressive appears remarkably quickly, then the AI loses the thread on anything complex, rebuilds work that was already finished, and can't resolve structural or logic problems. Credits drain while that happens.

Which is a shame, because the product on paper is one of the strongest here. Base44 generates a full-stack app from plain language: styling, responsive layouts, a database, API endpoints, auth, version control with rollback, one-click Stripe and GitHub. Wix acquired it for $80 million in June 2025, reportedly after the six-month-old startup passed 100,000 users.

Its security page states SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification, GDPR compliance with a DPA, AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit. Cancellation and refund handling generates its own separate cluster of complaints.

Free (25 message credits/mo, 5 apps), Starter $16/mo, Builder $40/mo, Pro $80/mo, Elite $160/mo, all billed annually
Unused credits expire at the end of each month, which punishes exactly the stop-start pattern most solo builders work in
Integration surface is genuinely broad: Stripe, GitHub, Twilio, Resend, Fal AI, Zapier's 6,000+ apps, plus your own OpenAI, Claude, Groq or Mistral keys

Use it for a prototype you intend to throw away.

Best fit: a quick internal tool or a demo you need by Thursday. Skip if: paying customers will depend on what it builds.

15. B12, the AI that hands you a human when you need one

Base44 asks you to keep building. B12 assumes you would rather not, and aims at the small business owner who wants the site to be someone else's problem. The AI generates the site from a business description, and you edit it by chatting to an agent, telling it to make the hero darker rather than hunting for a panel.

If the result still isn't right, an Expert Marketplace of designers, copywriters and SEO specialists will finish the job for you. Trustpilot reviewers rate it 4.5/5 across 219 reviews and repeatedly name the support staff who helped them.

Free: a subdomain site with 5 AI credits a day, capped at 30 a month
Website $49/month: 200 credits, up to 20 launched projects, custom domain free the first year
Website + Client Engagement $78/month: 300 credits, up to 30 launched projects, plus client intake, contracts and eSignature

Both paid plans run at $1/month for the first three months, so month four is when the real price arrives. Ecommerce checkout, invoicing, lead capture and email marketing are all in the core product.

No third-party integration ecosystem is documented, and reviewers struggled to find the cancellation option in account settings.

It suits an owner who would rather delegate the site than build it. If you need documented connections to the tools you already run, that gap is not going to close for you.

16. Relume, components instead of code

Relume takes a different route to the same destination. It generates a sitemap and wireframe from your brief, then assembles the site from components its own designers built and maintain. No raw code gets written. Relume puts the library past 1,000 components across Figma, Webflow and React in 40+ categories, and an MCP library puts the whole thing inside an AI code editor. Free forever means 30 components, unlimited sites and 1,500 monthly page views, with no card. Pro starts at $14/month for 6,000+ page views and premium AI. Output exports as Tailwind and shadcn/ui code, so you can leave with your work. Relume claims 1 million+ freelancer and agency users, with Rakuten, Nike, Headspace and IDEO among its named customers.

Best fit: designers and agencies who want structured wireframes that export into Webflow or React. Skip if: you want one price to compare, since Site Builder is billed separately, from a free tier and $18/month, with the team plan at $36/month on a three-user minimum.

17. Canva, a website feature inside a design tool

Relume is small and specialized. Canva is neither. It is a giant, and the public record says so: 265+ million monthly active users, 31+ million paid subscribers, roughly $4 billion in annual recurring revenue, a $42 billion valuation in an August 2025 secondary share sale, and profitability since 2017. Its templates are widely loved, and its iOS app holds 4.9/5 across 3.5 million ratings. So is the website builder the reason to buy it? No. Canva's own listing describes the product in terms of domain setup, new extensions like .ai, .blog and .design, and auto-DNS configuration across 50+ registrars. There is no documented prompt-to-full-site generation, and no ecommerce or CMS depth. Trustpilot sentiment splits at 4.0/5 across 6,893 reviews, 31% of them one star, driven by paywalled templates and unexpected renewals that reviewers found hard to refund.

If you already design in Canva and want a simple page attached to a domain, it does that job. If the site is the business, it does not.

18. Bolt.new, a strong free allowance and the lowest published rating here

Canva's split rating looks generous next to this. Trustpilot rates Bolt.new 1.5/5 across 199 reviews, the lowest published score of any tool here that has one. The top recurring complaint is precisely the one this whole category should fear: the AI burns your tokens fixing bugs it generated itself. That sits awkwardly beside the homepage claim of reducing errors by 98%. Support is the next one, with one reviewer waiting over a week for an update.

The frustrating part is how good the free allowance is. You get 300,000 tokens a day and 1 million a month, with no trial clock, which buys a lot of building before anything expires. Pro is $25/month starting at 10 million tokens with unused tokens rolling over, and Teams is $30 per member per month.

Bolt Cloud bundles hosting, a database, auth, custom domains and SEO, so your project doesn't need separate infrastructure. It routes across Claude models from Haiku 4.5 for fast edits up to Opus 4.7, imports from Figma and connects to GitHub.

Reviewers do praise it for simple builds finished in under an hour with multiple pages and good styling. That's the honest shape of it. Fast on small things, punishing on big ones.

So keep it small and self-contained, the kind of build you can finish in an afternoon. If you will need someone to answer when something breaks, that 1.5/5 is telling you something.

19. GoDaddy Airo, mainstream, supported, and short on detail

Support that answers is precisely what this one sells. GoDaddy put a 2025 Super Bowl commercial behind Airo, its AI onboarding and site-generation layer, which tells you how central it is to a company founded in 1997 with 5,518 employees. The product itself is the familiar template-driven Website Builder with hosting, domain and site management bundled.

Capterra rates GoDaddy Website Builder 4.2/5 across 1,379 reviews with ease of use at 4.2/5, and that listing reports tiers from $9.99/month up to $20.99/month for ecommerce with a free trial. Company-wide, Trustpilot shows 4.4/5 across 142,319 reviews, with GoDaddy replying to 91% of negative reviews within 24 hours.

So what holds it back? Depth. Reviewers describe customization as restrictive once you want something specific, and report platform bugs, account access difficulties and renewal price increases after the first term. No integration list or public API is documented for it.

If you already buy your domains from GoDaddy and want the easiest path to a simple site, the round-the-clock support that Trustpilot reviewers call responsive makes it a defensible choice.

So the fit is narrow but real: an existing GoDaddy customer who wants one bill and a support desk that replies. Skip it if you have a specific design in mind, or if you need the site to talk to other software.

20. CodeDesign.ai, claims the review sites do not confirm

Most of the tools above leave a public record you can check. Here, start with the gap between claim and record. CodeDesign.ai's homepage advertises 400k+ makers, 4 million+ sites built and a 4.8/5 rating with 200+ reviews on Trustpilot and G2. Trustpilot lists zero reviews for it. Capterra lists zero as well.

Pricing is equally hard to pin down. The public page surfaces a $79 lifetime deal, down from $194, without a resolvable breakdown of monthly tiers or usage limits.

The feature list is broader than the rank suggests: an AI visual builder, AI writing tools including brand and slogan generators, an SEO audit, live analytics, an AI WordPress builder, a support chatbot, a booking calendar and 200+ templates. It integrates with WordPress and Zapier, and names an Intervo integration for AI customer care. It promises a site in 60 seconds from a business description, and claims you own the code outright through HTML and CSS export.

One-time $79 makes sense for a low-stakes site where that is the whole budget. If you want a resolvable price and an independent review record before you pay, you already have your answer.

21. Butternut AI, a full feature list with no public record

There is essentially no independent record of what using Butternut AI is like. A single Trustpilot review exists, alleging repeated card charges after cancellation, with no company response attached to it. The homepage also advertises a no-credit-card free tier that the pricing page doesn't show, offering only a 5-day trial.

The product on paper is respectable for the money. Butternut generates a complete multi-page business site with layout, images and copy in about 20 seconds, according to the company, and claims 500,000+ websites generated across 200+ industries with 1,000+ launched weekly. You get an AI chatbot trained on your business data, an AI blog writer, automated SEO, ecommerce and payment processing, Google Analytics, and access to 20 million stock and AI images.

Starter is $20/month with 100 AI credits, 1 custom domain and 10 GB of hosting. Pro is $69/month with 300 credits, 2 domains, 200 GB and the WhatsApp lead-capture connector.

Best fit: a solo owner who wants a done-for-you site and is comfortable being an early customer. Skip if: you want a public track record before you hand over a card.

22. Wegic, the free plan that costs $2.99

Wegic wants the card first. Its free plan can't generate a website until you buy a separate $2.99 trial. Know that before anything else. Then look at the review record: only 5 Trustpilot reviews exist, and all of them are critical, describing crashes, slowness and refund requests that went unanswered.

Can you take the site with you afterwards? No. Reviewers report there's no way to edit manually or export the code, so the site stays exactly where you built it.

The pitch is otherwise pure conversation. You build and edit by chat, text or voice, and the built-in toolset is broader than the rank implies: online booking, a shopping cart, push notifications, a search bar, Google Maps embedding, multilingual sites and SEO tooling.

Pricing is published clearly. Starter is $39.9/month, or $23.9/month billed annually at $286.8/year, with 600 credits and up to 10,000 visitors. Premium is $69.9/month, or $41.9/month annually at $502.8/year, with 2,000 credits, unlimited visitors and the custom domain that Starter does not include.

For a simple, low-stakes site built entirely by chat, it does the job. If you will ever want the code, or if the site matters to your revenue, that $2.99 is the cheapest lesson on this page.

The ratings do not follow the rankings

Wegic's five reviews point at the thing this whole list keeps circling. Every rating here carries its review count and its platform, because a 4.8 from nine people and a 4.4 from four thousand are not the same claim.

At the bottom sit two of the AI-native code generators. Bolt.new lands at 1.5/5 across 199 Trustpilot reviews and Base44 at 2.8/5 across 857, with 54% one star, and both have real capability behind them. Two others, Lovable and Replit, sit near the top of the same table, so the divide runs inside the category rather than around it. Canva splits the difference at 4.0/5 across 6,893 reviews with 31% one star, which is what a billing dispute cluster looks like inside an otherwise beloved product.

Then there are the tools with almost nothing behind them. Wegic has 5 Trustpilot reviews. Butternut AI has one. Relume has no third-party rating in play at all. CodeDesign.ai advertises 4.8/5 and 200+ reviews on its homepage while Trustpilot and Capterra both list zero. That absence is not proof a tool is bad. It does mean you would be the test case, which is a different purchase than the one Squarespace is selling. Either way, the same five questions settle it.

Five checks before you pay

Can you export it? Check the Portability column before you pay, and ask the vendor directly wherever it is blank.
Can you move the domain? Tip: register it with a registrar you already trust, then point it at the builder. It costs a few dollars and removes the whole risk.
What is the price when the intro term ends? Multiply it across the full commitment before you sign.
What happens the day the credits run out? Ask now, not mid-build.
Where is the cancel button? Find it during the trial, while you still have leverage.

Questions buyers keep asking

Which AI website builders have a genuinely free plan, and which are really just trials?

Twelve of the 22 have a permanent free plan: Lovable, v0, Wix, Replit, Framer, Durable, Webflow, Base44, B12, Relume, Canva and Bolt.new. Wix and Relume ask for no card at all. Durable's free plan includes a working generated site, and Bolt.new gives 1 million tokens a month. The others run trials with a clock: 14 days at Squarespace, Duda and Hostinger, 7 at Dorik, 5 at Butternut AI, and a 30-day money-back guarantee at 10Web. Duda's trial also skips the credit card. Wegic is the odd one out, because its "free" plan cannot generate a website until you spend $2.99.

Why are AI website builder bills so unpredictable, and which tools charge a flat rate instead?

Metered tools charge for the AI's effort, not your output. So a difficult afternoon costs more than an easy one, and reviewers at Bolt.new, Base44, Lovable, Replit, 10Web and v0 all describe credits draining faster than the work seemed to justify. The reasons differ: Bolt.new and Base44 reviewers blame the AI debugging its own output, 10Web reviewers blame minor edits, Replit reviewers report surprise overages, and Lovable and v0 reviewers simply say the balance goes faster than expected. If you want a flat monthly number, look at Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Dorik and Elementor, where AI credits are a bonus feature rather than the meter running your build. Duda is flat fee too, capped at 150 AI credits a month on every tier.

Can you export your site and take your domain elsewhere, or are you locked in?

It depends entirely on which one you pick, and it is one of the biggest differences between them. Webflow exports HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Relume hands you Tailwind and shadcn/ui. Dorik and CodeDesign.ai advertise code export. Lovable and v0 sync to GitHub, so your code sits in a repository you control. Elementor runs on a WordPress site you host yourself. 10Web builds on WordPress too, though on hosting 10Web manages for you. On the other side, Capterra reviewers say Hostinger's pages are hard to move, Wegic reviewers report no export path, and Durable reviewers report domain lock and delayed transfer codes. For the rest, no export route is spelled out either way, so ask before you commit.

What do these tools actually cost after the introductory price ends?

Hostinger's Premium is $2.99/month promotional against a regular $10.99, Unlimited is $3.99 against $16.99, and Cloud Startup is $7.99 against $25.99, all on 48-month commitment terms. B12 charges $1/month for three months, then $49. Dorik's $10.38/month requires two-year billing at $249 upfront, and its month-to-month price is $29. Capterra and Trustpilot reviewers name renewal increases as a recurring complaint at both Hostinger and GoDaddy. Do the multiplication before you sign, not after.

Can an AI website builder handle a store or a booking system, or do you need a separate platform?

Plenty of them handle both natively. Wix has ecommerce from the Core tier at $29.77/month, plus bookings and events. Duda ships native and third-party ecommerce with integrated bookings. Squarespace bundles ecommerce, invoicing and scheduling. Hostinger advertises 0% transaction fees across 100+ payment methods. 10Web gives you a full WooCommerce build. Durable carries booking and payments in the platform itself. Even Wegic lists booking and a shopping cart. The code generators can build a store too, but you will be maintaining an application rather than configuring a product.

What happens when the site grows past a few simple pages?

This is where the two species separate hardest. Base44 reviewers describe the AI losing the thread and rebuilding finished work once a build gets complex. v0 reviewers report it struggling with multi-step flows and state management. Lovable's own review base says complex apps need manual debugging. Framer reviewers report performance dropping as projects grow. Among the flat-fee platforms the limits are different, but just as real. Webflow's CMS has field caps and nesting restrictions, and Wix, Squarespace and GoDaddy reviewers all describe advanced customization as restrictive. If you know the site will get complicated, choose for the exit door: code export or GitHub sync, so a human can take over where the AI stops.
